8th Annual Providence College Student-Athlete Career Night Sponsored by Mark Mandell and Yvette Boisclair

On Tuesday, November 15, the Providence College Athletic Department in conjunction with the Career Education Center and Office of Academic Support held its Student-Athlete Career Night. The event was made possible through the generous support of Mark Mandell and Yvette Boisclair ’84 who have sponsored the event since its inception in 2008.

More than 90 student-athletes from the junior and senior classes attended the event which was held in ’64 Hall. The night began with a message from Mark Mandell who challenged the student-athletes to focus on the important things in life, those which will positively impact others. He encouraged students to maintain a strong work/life balance and to live life with integrity:

“Enjoy the beauty in life,” said Mandell. “It goes by way too quickly. The only thing you can control in your life is to live it with integrity. Strive for consciousness and understanding of what’s going on around you. No matter where you go in your life, don’t ever forget to give back.”

Later in the evening John McDonald ‘10SCE, a PC alumnus and ex-Major League baseball player, delivered his keynote address, telling those gathered:

“As great as winning a World Series was, nothing matched the joy of receiving my PC diploma. The confidence I have gained from having my college degree is unbelievable.”
